What is the difference between original and remanufactured toner cartridges?
If you buy remanufactured cartridges from us, you won't see any difference in print quality compared to the originals. We replace any interior components showing any signs of wear or fatigue with brand new, long-life aftermarket components. In fact, many of the original cartridges are also built from new and used materials. However, the remanufactured cartridge typically costs 25-40% less than the original.

Will using a remanufactured cartridge void the warranty on my printer?
No. Using a remanufactured toner cartridge will not affect coverage under the printer's warranty - unless the cartridge is directly attributable to causing the damage. Any reputable remanufacturer will cover you in this unlikely event. In our 19+ years of business, this has never, ever happened. The worst thing a cartridge can do is leak toner into the printer. A cartridge does not "blow up", nor does it cause fans, motors, fusers, power supplies, or any other component to fail prematurely.

Why doesn't the printer pick up the paper out of the paper tray?
If your printer sounds the same as usual, the most likely thing is that the pick up roller(s) have lost their ability to pick up the paper. In most cases a thorough, professional cleaning of the machine, and the pick up rollers in particular, will alleviate the problem. If a good cleaning does not solve the problem, the pick up rollers will have to be replaced. If the rollers are not turning, or the printer sounds different, the problem is likely a gear or solenoid.

Why does the paper keep jamming?
Paper jams are caused by a variety of reasons, but the most common is that your printer simply needs professional cleaning. Over time, paper dust accumulates in the printer and rubber paper transport rollers become hard and smooth, instead of soft and tacky. Your printer is a mechanical device that requires regular maintenance, just like a car needs to have regular oil changes If a cleaning doesn't solve the problem, the cause is possibly more serious and can only be diagnosed by a technician on site.

Why does my printer say there is a paper jam when there is no paper jam?
Paper sensors can break or become dislodged. The sensors are delicate plastic "flags" that are moved as the paper goes by. Sometimes clearing a paper jam can break or dislodge these sensors, causing the machine to think paper is still there.

Why am I getting black streaks down the page?
Black steaks can be caused by the toner cartridge or by the printer itself. First, try another cartridge. If that doesn't solve the problem, your fuser may be scored or you may need to clean the corona wire (if your printer has one). These problems should be diagnosed by a technician.

Why am I getting black lines across the page?
Horizontal black lines regularly spaced down the page are usually a sign of a problem with the toner cartridge. Replacing the cartridge will take care of the problem. Horizontal lines of varying thickness and irregularly spaced are signs the laser scanner motor has failed.

Why am I getting a repeating image 3-4” down the page?
Repeating images or "ghosting" is caused by either the drum in the toner cartridge or the fuser in your printer. Try another cartridge first and if that doesn't solve the problem, call a technician.

Why does the print appear faint?
Faint print is usually caused by your toner cartridge running out. Try another cartridge. Alternatively, your toner density may be adjusted too low. This is usually adjusted on the printer itself, or through the computer's software. In Panasonic and Raven printers the developer may need replacing. This is a consumable item consisting of iron filings that mix with the toner to give it magnetic properties, so it will stick to the page.

Why do I have a white band down the page?
A faded white strip down the centre or left of centre is usually caused by lack of toner. To fix this, change the cartridge. If the white band has very sharply defined edges, regardless of where it appears on the page, there may be something blocking the laser beam, and you should call a technician.

My printer sounds different. Why?
How your printer sounds is very important. If you notice a different sound, you should call for service immediately. Sometimes new noises translate into print quality defects. Clunking, grinding and groaning sounds have a variety of causes but are frequently caused by a broken tooth on a gear interfering with the way the gears mesh with each other. High pitched humming noises are often caused by the drum rotating inside the cartridge. Chirping or whining sounds are frequently the sound of a cooling fan dying. Considering the cost of the items being cooled, you should replace the fan right away. Lastly, your printer may suddenly sound like a jet warming up and taking off. This is the sound of your laser scanner motor wearing out.

Why is the back of the page getting dirty?
If toner is getting on the back of the page it is usually caused by an accumulation of leaked toner in the belly of the printer. Have your printer professionally cleaned. If this does not solve the problem, the high voltage power supply or transfer roller may need replacing.

The characters don't seem to be filled in with toner. Why?
"Voiding out" is generally caused by either poor quality toner or poor fusing of the toner onto the page. Try replacing the cartridge first, but if this doesn't work your fuser may have worn out.

The background of the page seems to be a light grey colour when it should be white. Why?
Background "shading" is usually the result of a defective drum in the cartridge. Replace the cartridge. Alternatively, your toner density may be adjusted too high. Most machines have this adjustment on the printer itself, while others are adjusted through the software in your computer.

What is the fuser?
The fuser, or fusing assembly, is a combination of two rollers through which the paper passes. The lower roller applies pressure, the upper roller heats up and literally melts the toner into the paper. Because of the heat and pressure, rollers are high wear items and can be easily damaged when clearing paper jams.

What is the drum?
The drum is part of the toner cartridge and appears as a light blue, green or brown cylinder. It is the component that actually puts the toner on the page. Like the fuser, it can be easily damaged when clearing paper jams.

Why is the paper coming out all crinkled?
This can be due to a few different factors, depending on how the
crinkles appear. The most common causes are:
- the exit rollers that push the paper out of the printer are wearing out
- the registration assembly that makes sure the paper is going through straight is wearing out
- the fuser is wearing out.
